Ocoee Adventure Company purchased USA Raft Ocoee in 2003
Outpost is named Big Frog Expeditions in 2004If you blinked, you might have missed all the name changes in 2002-03 – from USA Raft to USA Raft Ocoee– then in 2003 to Big Frog Expeditions... Here's our story and we're sticking to it! In 2002 USA Raft sold the Ocoee outpost to us: Ocoee Adventure Company. Who are we? Since 1997, our company has been operating the Ocoee Adventure Center on the east end of the Ocoee River gorge. The primary players of OAC brought several years of experience in organizing events leading up to the 1996 Olympic Whitewater competition, as well as lots of management background in other outdoor businesses. We operated the USA Raft Ocoee outpost in 2003 pretty much like before but with the added expertise of our outpost manager, Rick Houlk. Rick’s a 20+ year Ocoee veteran and a well-known face on the Ocoee. USA Raft continued to take reservations for us that year to ensure a smooth transition for our customers. After we had a season under our belt, USA Raft and USA Raft Ocoee agreed that sharing a name was confusing – try explaining it to vendors and delivery people – they got all mixed up! The affiliation with USA Raft remained strong and the relationship continued between the two companies, but we took on our own reservations and decided to rename the outpost. We changed our name to Big Frog Expeditions for the 2004 season. Our experienced ownership, the strong local management and — most importantly — the awesome whitewater rafting experience have remained the same. We added more activities like mountain biking, horseback riding, hiking, swimming, kayaking, and ropes course activities so our groups can have everything they need for a full adventure experience, both on and off the river.
